Your little one has now been in the world for an entire year and he/she is growing and developing fast. Make an appointment with his/her doctor so you know what to expect. A dental checkup is also needed once that first tooth appears. Through Crow Wing County’s Child and Teen Checkups program, these appointments are FREE to anyone on Medical Assistance. Your child’s 12-month checkup will include:
A chance to ask your questions
Reliable information about healthy food, sleep, behavior and safety
A check on how your baby is growing, learning, developing, and feeling
Time to talk about parenting
Weight, length, head size
Head-to-toe exam
Immunizations, if needed
Blood check for lead and anemia(once between 9 to 15 months)
Help finding regular dental care
Fluoride varnish for healthy teeth
Hearing and vision checks
Support with family needs:
Food, housing, utilities
Money or job resources
Child care
Transportation
Help with safe relationships, mental health or substance use
