Project Overview
The Crow Wing County Highway Department is planning to reconstruct the existing CSAH 36 from CSAH 37 to County Road 114 in the summer of 2015. The proposed project is located within the City of Crosslake and Fairfield Township in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. The total length of the project corridor is approximately 4.7 miles. With this project being federally funded, it will be designed and constructed according State Aid standards and federal guidelines. To meet these standards the construction of the road will involve grading, horizontal alignment corrections, vertical profile corrections, bituminous paving, drainage improvements, storm water storage ponds, and expansion of the existing right-of-way.

The Highway Department is currently at the preliminary design stage of the project to look at different alternatives/costs on this route. A Task Force was established comprised of local partners and stakeholders to capture visions and ideas for the CSAH 36 corridor. The Task Force also serves as the voice of the community to keep the general public informed of the project progress. After meeting two times the Task Force has developed two alternatives. These alternatives need the community input/comments before an alternative is chosen. There is also interest from local trail groups to propose a recreational trail along this corridor which would be built in conjunction of the road project. Comments from the community would also be needed on the trail group’s proposal at this open house. We encourage public involvement/input on our projects so we can have a final product that is safe, reliable, high quality, cost-effective, and meets the end user’s needs. Please check the Crow Wing County website for updates on this project. The material presented at Open House #1 should be on the website by March 22nd. Comments on this material will be accepted up to April 5th, 2013.

The Task Force will meet one more time after the comment period to analyze public comments and recommend the alternative of choice. After that the Highway Department will pursue a resolution of support for the recommended alternative from the City of Crosslake and Fairfield Township.
