[ARCHIVED] County Highway Maintenance: What are They Doing?!!!

Sealing Mill Bridge

County Highway maintenance crews are sealing cracks on the Mill Avenue Bridge this week. This work is very detailed and requires the crew to identify and seal hairline cracks on the bridge’s surface using mechanic’s creepers to keep water from infiltrating the bridge’s structure. The work requires closure of one travel lane. Portable stoplights are directing traffic over the bridge with only three-minute wait times. The Mill Avenue bridge sealing will be complete by Tuesday evening. Crews will then move to the Crosslake Dam Bridge on CSAH 3 Wednesday and Thursday, to perform sealing operations. Next week sealing will take place on CSAH 2 and CSAH 21 bridges using the same methods. Sealing on Crow Wing County bridges takes place every three years as a preventative maintenance practice in order preserve and extend the life of our bridges.

All maintenance work is weather sensitive and is subject to delay or change.
