The Records Unit processes and maintains crime and arrest records, traffic accident reports, citations and related documents in order to provide information to other divisions within the Sheriff's Office, the County Attorney's Office, the Court System, other law enforcement agencies and to the general public.
The Sheriff's Office maintains records for Crow Wing County incidents only. Independent police departments maintain their own records and reports.
Records requests are handled for incident reports and other data as allowed under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Statute Chapter 13. Most incident reports are public information unless it is an active investigation, court action is still pending or information is classified as confidential or private. Requests for public data can be made in person, by mail, email or by phone. To request private data one of the forms below must be completed and submitted to the Sheriff's Office in person, by mail, email or fax.
